Working with metal sculpture, drawing, and painting, the artist June Leaf (1929–2024) lived between New York City and the remote fishing town of Mabou, Nova Scotia, from 1970 until her death. Her peer Joan Jonas, a pioneering performance and video artist, has also lived and worked between New York City and Nova Scotia. In these videos, Jonas recorded Leaf speaking about her work in her Mabou and New York studios. These conversations are a testament to their creative friendship and to Leaf’s polymathic mind and artistic process.
This presentation accompanies the exhibition June Leaf: Shooting from the Heart.
