Help us protect and conserve the art

  • Please store backpacks, bags, and packages in the storage lockers or on the hooks at the rear of the museum (items are left at the owner’s risk)
  • Umbrellas should be stored in the umbrella stands or lockers
  • Food and drink are not permitted in the galleries
  • Dirt and oils on our skin can damage art, so we ask you not to touch
  • Please be cautious around artwork—give it space, and stay aware of your surroundings, especially when using your phone
  • Sketching and note-taking with pencil is encouraged, but use of pen is not permitted
  • Seating is available throughout the building and stools may be borrowed during your visit; please do not touch or lean against cases or walls

Families are welcome

  • Children under 12 are welcome to visit with a caregiver
  • The best way to experience art is together, so walk as a group, holding young children by the hand
  • Strollers are permitted in the museum
  • Changing tables are available in the restrooms

Photography is allowed

  • You may take personal photos without flash, but don’t use a selfie-stick, tripod, or monopod; please review our photography policy
  • Share your visit on Facebook or Instagram and tag us @allenartmuseum
  • The Museum or College may take photos or videos of visitors for educational and promotional purposes. Attendance on Museum property is implied consent for the use of visitors’ likenesses for these purposes.

Enhance visits for all

  • Visitors must wear shoes and a shirt
  • Please be considerate of others if speaking on your phone in the galleries

 Accessibility

  • Certified service animals on leashes are welcome in the museum
  • An access ramp is located on the north side of the museum, through the courtyard tunnel on Lorain Street

  • Our second-floor gallery is only accessible by stairs, and visual guides of exhibitions there are available at the welcome desk

Museum staff members are here to ensure that you, and future generations of visitors, are able to enjoy the collection. Disregarding the above guidelines may result in your being asked to leave. Please contact a staff member if you have a question or would like to provide feedback.
