Lines of Inquiry: Learning from Rembrandt's Etchings

$35.00

Rembrandt’s etchings are justly treasured for their innovative techniques and perceptive portrayal of the human psyche. They have also long inspired historical and technical investigation in American university and college art collections, as well as multidisciplinary teaching approaches.

This exhibition catalogue highlights new research on initiatives that examine the enduring status of Rembrandt the printmaker and the multivalent nature of his works. It includes an overview of the history of Rembrandt prints in American academic collections, a documented account of Oberlin College’s secret guardianship of the Morgan Library & Museum’s Rembrandt etchings collection during World War II, and an introduction to Cornell University’s Watermark Identification in Rembrandt’s Etchings (WIRE) project, dedicated to digitally facilitating access to Rembrandt watermark scholarship.

The catalogue is available online for $35, which includes shipping.
