Learn MoreCongratulations to Sam Adams, the Allen’s Ellen Johnson ’33 Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, who won the Barbara Nessim Curatorial Travel Award, presented by EXPO CHICAGO and ICI (Independent Curators International)
The annual award is given to a curator attending the Curatorial Forum, to support a project that advances the career of a woman-identifying artist. As the co-curator of the traveling retrospective of the late artist June Leaf, Adams will use the award to travel to Mabou, Nova Scotia to speak at Leaf’s celebration of life this summer.
Adams accepted the award in Chicago’s Navy Pier, a formative site for June Leaf, who grew up in Chicago and whose 1960s dioramas were based in part on the arcade amusements she played on the Pier as a girl. Stay posted for more June Leaf content as the Allen prepares to host her outsized exhibit next spring!
