Using the AMAM’s renowned collection of Asian art, more than 20 lesson plans connect different topics of study with the arts and cultures of Asia. They are based on Ohio’s Learning Standards for all ages and interdisciplinary areas.
Developed through generous grants from the Freeman Foundation, each lesson includes: learning objectives and assessment questions, a hands-on activity, related state and national learning standards, vocabulary words, differentiations for K-12 levels, a slideshow with supplemental maps and images, and additional resource links.
Classroom resource sheets are available for elementary, middle, and high school learning levels with lessons in language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, and visual arts.
Each resource sheet gives background information on a work from the AMAM’s permanent collection in the areas of visual analysis, artist biography, cultural and historic importance, function/form, and style. In addition, each resource sheet lists possible vocabulary words and ideas for curricular connections to each of the major subject areas.
Our goal is to help you make connections in the classroom or home school, and to inspire the creative integration of our collection into your lesson plans. These classroom resource sheets were made possible in part by a grant from the Ohio Arts Council to meet Ohio's Academic Content Standards.
