Teaching Space: Learning Through the Collection

July 25, 2026 - May 23, 2027
In Ripin Gallery

New this year, the Allen’s Teaching Space highlights the museum’s role as an extension of the classroom. This dedicated installation supports object-based teaching throughout the academic year, inviting students to engage directly with original works of art as part of their coursework to complement two courses taught by Visiting Assistant Professor of Art History Joe Bucciero: Realism: Art and Politics in Europe, 1848–1968 in the fall and Mysticism and Modernism, 1850–1950 in the spring. These artworks will support students in these classes as they explore art’s connections to social concerns like industrialization and political revolution and the ways modern art developed alongside the coterminous and often overlapping rises of esoteric thought and practices.
