Allen After Hours / Celebrations of Place: An Evening with Local Musicians

Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Join us for a festive evening of music and refreshments in the courtyard behind the museum with a local jazz ensemble led by trombonist, pianist, and composer Caleb A. Smith (OC 2019). Smith composed a piece inspired by a vivid painting in the Allen’s collection by Cleveland artist Michelangelo Lovelace. Hear the piece’s public debut played by Smith on trombone/piano and band mates Gabriel Jones on drums, Ahmed Zuberi McLemore (OC 2024) on bass, and Nathan-Paul W. Davis on saxophone/flute.

Access Statement:
This event will be held in the courtyard behind the museum, which is partially accessible to wheelchairs- and rolling walkers. The adjacent museum building is wheelchair accessible, with wheelchair-accessible restrooms. Restrooms are gender-specific; visitors are invited to use the restroom of their preference. Listening devices and ASL will not be available during the event. Please email access questions to Jill Greenwood, jgreenwo@oberlin.edu.
