This talk introduces an important new AMAM acquisition: the Goddess Shield. This beautifully painted shield, made in Northern India in the mid-19th century, is covered with images of warrior goddesses. But why? What did they represent? And who would have owned it? Join Kevin R. E. Greenwood, Joan L. Danforth Curator of Asian Art, for this lively presentation.
