Niovi Rahme (OC 2025) leads an informal discussion on Ana Mendieta's Untitled (Guanaroca [First Woman]).

This event is part of our Object Talk series, during which the Allen's Gallery Guides give informal talks on their favorite objects in the collection. We hope to see you there!

Access Statement:
This talk will be in the upper gallery of the museum and there is no access for wheelchairs or rolling walkers; a paper booklet of the current exhibitions is available at the front desk as well as our Allen Augmented Reality tour. Gallery seating is limited to camp stools, which are available by the back entrance. Restrooms are gender-specific; visitors are invited to use the restroom of their preference. Image description: Carved away from the rock is a figure with a round head, short and wide arms that reach its midsection, and the lower half of the figure takes the shape of upside-down teardrop, and in the center is a small slit entirely carved away.
