An Oberlin tradition for more than 80 years, Art Rental provides the opportunity to live with an original work of art for a semester. There are nearly 400 works in the Art Rental collection earmarked for borrowing. Each participant may choose one work from a random selection of five in the upstairs Ripin Gallery.
While Art Rental is primarily a student event, it is open to Oberlin College faculty and staff, as well as members of the community. Participants will be asked to show an Oberlin College ID card or proof of Oberlin residence. The rental fee is $5 for each work. Cash or check only. Participants should line up outside the northeast doors in the rear courtyard and will be admitted to Art Rental from there. Spring 2023 rentals must be returned to the museum on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
